Nantwich were the first to show with MICHAEL LENNON making a run to deep from the left-LENNON then delivering a cross to the far post to find RODNEY JACK whose glancing close range header was palmed away by Marine ‘keeper TIM DITTMER leaving the visitors defence to clear before any Nantwich player could take advantage. At the other end, Marine winger SEAN DOHERTY lifted a close range effort over the bar but overall the play during the opening 20 minutes was even.

On 22 minutes LENNON played a great ball into the feet of DAVE WHITTAKER whose response was to place a low strike narrowly wide of target whilst three minutes later Nantwich took the lead.

GOAL: 25 Minutes. A three man move involving LENNON – WHITTAKER and CHRIS FLYNN led to DITTMER parrying FLYNN’S shot – LENNON pouncing on the loose ball before feeding GLYN BLACKHURST who completed the move by side footing into the net from close range to put the ‘Dabbers’ ahead.

Meanwhile, a JAKE SEDGEMORE free kick was held at the second attempt by DITTMER followed by a 30 yard screamer from JACK that whistled inches past a post and then another three man move involving BLACKHURST – LEE McANULTY and WHITTAKER who failed by the narrowest of margins to get his head on to the end of McANULTY’S cross with only DITTMER to beat.

GOAL: 50 Minutes. Marine equalized through their captain JOE McMAHON after JAMIE RAINFORD’S initial close range shot was deflected for a corner. McMAHON stealing in to score the equalizer.

GOAL: 57 Minutes. Nantwich took the lead for the second time when JACK pulled the ball back from the dead ball line before lofting the ball to the back post to the waiting FLYNN who made no mistake from close range.

GOAL: 67 Minutes. Marine equalized for a second time thanks largely to hesitant defending by Nantwich. From a corner JONATHAN GOULDING scrambled the ball over the line to set up a tense finish.

GOAL: 90 + 2. FLYNN sealed the win for Nantwich following excellent work by substitute MARVIN ROBINSON whose move down the right led to FLYNN receiving the ball and although his first attempt failed he made no mistake with his second to provide Nantwich and caretaker manager KEVIN STREET with a third victory is as many games.
