NANTWICH TOWN 0 v BUXTON 3
Gavin Knight.7. 47.
Steve Ridley. 22

The Dabbers slipped to another disappointing home defeat as Buxton converted their chances to record an emphatic victory at the Weaver Stadium and their woe was compounded when centre half Ritchie Sutton was red-carded on the stroke of half-time.

GOAL: Nantwich fell behind in the 7th minute when a low cross from Buxton midfielder MICHAEL TOWEY found unmarked striker GAVIN KNIGHT who bundled the ball over the line at the far post.

Meanwhile, Nantwich left back CHRIS FLYNN tested ‘Bucks’ goalkeeper SCOTT HARTLEY – the Buxton custodian just about holding on to the fierce 25 yard drive whilst ‘Dabbers’ striker ANDY KINSEY brought down a RICHIE SUTTON ball before firing narrowly wide of the target.

GOAL: 22 Minutes. Buxton went further ahead when Nantwich midfielder JED MURPHY was alleged to have handled the ball just outside the area. Buxton winger STEVE RIDLEY curling the free kick over the wall and beyond goalkeeper LEE JONES into the top corner of the net.

At the other end, Nantwich winger ASHLEY CARTER got in with a close range shot that HARTLEY just managed to palm away and then Buxton launching another attack that saw KNIGHT’S free kick tipped over the bar for a corner by JONES which ended with RIDLEY shooting wide from the flag kick.

NANTWICH were reduced to 10 men a minute into added time when SUTTON was shown a straight red card for a two footed lunge on Buxton’s SCOTT MAXFIELD.

HT: NANTWICH TOWN 0 v BUXTON 2

GOAL: 47 Minutes. Buxton increased their lead when TOWEY’S cross found KNIGHT in space – the ‘Bucks’ striker applying a cool finish to inflict further damage on depleted Nantwich.

On the hour, on loan Port Vale midfielder ROSS DAVIDSON played a clever ball into the path of Nantwich striker MARVIN ROBINSON – ROBINSON’S shot deflected for a corner whilst two minutes later Buxton had great chance to go further ahead but credit to JONES, in a one on one situation, he blocked NEIL STEVENS close range effort. Nantwich made a double substitution- RODNEY JACK replacing assistant head coach KEVIN STREET on the wing with MICHAEL LENNON on for ANDY KINSEY in attack but whilst the home side put in an improved performance in the second half they failed to match Buxton who remain unbeaten away from home in the league since the 22nd of September.
