Biography

Alan made his senior debut as a 16 year old in the Cheshire Senior Cup against Crewe Corinthians, 25/09/1948 – scoring a hat-trick in the 7-0 win. Had a trial at Marine in November 1948. The tall youngster switched to Mid-Cheshire League rivals Seddons Ramblers (1949-50) during the following campaign, netting 12 times in his first season with the Middlewich club and helping them to lift the Crewe & District FA Cup.
In the summer of 1951 he signed for Northwich Victoria where he featured for the reserves. Returned to London Road in September 1955. Selected to play for Cheshire, he also represented Crewe & District FA and England Cadets.
