Nantwich hit their Leicestershire visitors for six as they continued their assault on the FA Vase. Without dangermen Wes Wilkinson and Jamie Phoenix, the Dabbers still had ample firepower and, after a shaky opening 10 minutes, took the game by the scruff of the neck.
Those opening moments saw Danny Geary fire against the post for the visitors and then Richard Saunders put the ball wide after Anthony Buckle lost possession in the danger area.
Coalville keeper Richard Williams was lucky not to be red-carded for hauling down Jon Dawson outside the box but on 23 minutes, the Dabbers went ahead when Nigel Gleghorn drove home a free kick from 20 yards. Three minutes later it was 2-0, Scott James unfortunately deflecting a Gleghorn through ball past the helpless Williams and just before the half-hour Gleghorn netted his second after Vernum Rowland had cut in from the left.
Coalville refused to lie down and Simon Pay was called on to save a free kick and then Craig Middleton blazed over the bar when stretching for a cross ten yards from goal.
Just before the interval, Williams tipped Danny Griggs’ free-kick on to the bar but any flickers of a Coalville fight back were doused off on 71 minutes when Dale Melling was on hand to profit from neat approach play from Ashley Lawton. Griggs got on the scoresheet five minutes later when he tapped home from close range after Lawton and Dawson had linked well to create the opening and the shell shocked visitors conceded a sixth eight minutes from time. Mark Gardiner made no mistake from the penalty spot after Adam Vickers had been sent flying by James after combining well with Griggs.
The scoreline perhaps flattered the hosts but they took their chances well to earn a place in the Fourth Round.
