Match Report
Clitheroe clinched the NW Counties League championship on a memorable day for the visiting fans!
Needing a win to pip Mossley to the title, the Blues went 2-0 up with goals from Gary Jackson. After the hour mark, two strikes in five minutes from Ashley Lawton (70) and Melford Knight (75) levelled it up, much to the delight of the Mossley fans present. But a late goal by Neil Reynolds on 85 minutes gave Clitheroe a 3-2 victory and, with it, the league title and a first ever promotion to the Northern Premier League.
The Nantwich line-up was: Stuart Heeps, Richard Pullar, Mark Gardiner (John Ackerley), Tim Alexander, Nigel Gleghorn, Ant Buckle, Lee Hughes, Melford Knight (Andy Parkinson), Tom Caines, Danny Griggs, Dale Melling (Ash Lawton).
