Wartime player with Crewe Alexandra, Fred appeared for Northwich Victoria after the war. A well known local cricketer with Nantwich CC, he became trainer for the Dabbers before taking over full responsibility for team affairs when the club’s Selection Committee became defunct in January 1958. Resigned from the role at the club’s AGM in July 1958, leaving the Committee to take up the mantle again.
