Biography

A formidable centre-half, Herbie was a regular for Nantwich throughout the 1950s. Went on trial to Marine in November 1948 and during his National Service, he appeared for Shrewsbury Town Reserves in the Midland League.
Crewe Alexandra Manager Ralph Ward signed him as an amateur and he made a single League appearance at home to Gateshead, 28/08/1954, before returning to London Road.

Signed for Witton Albion (54/55:5,0) in December 1954, returning to Nantwich in March 1955. An employee of MANWEB.
