Biography
Roy was a wing-half for Congleton Town (1952-53:12,0) before joining Crewe Alexandra (1955-56:14,0) in October 1955, making his League debut at Accrington Stanley, 03/12/1955. Later returned to Congleton (1958-73:224,14), taking on the managerial reins and guiding the Bears to runners-up in the Mid-Cheshire League in 1972 and the title two years later.
After 18 years with Congleton as Secretary and Manager, he was appointed Nantwich Manager in January 1983. Alas, he was unable to steady a sinking ship and left the post at the end of the season as the Dabbers finished bottom and were relegated to the NW Counties League Second Division. Appointed Assistant Manager at Macclesfield Town in the summer of 1983.
