Biography

Joined Nantwich from Prestwich Heys during the 1975 close season and immediately formed a formidable strike partnership with Johnnie Walker, helping the Dabbers to the club’s then best ever season in the Cheshire County League. Also headed the goal that put the Dabbers on course for a surprise 5-4 victory over Runcorn in the 1976 Cheshire Senior Cup Final.

Switched to Witton Albion (1976-80:232+1,77) in March 1977 for a £400 fee, leaving the Central Ground in the summer of 1981 with a £500 fee taking him to Macclesfield Town (1981-83:141+1,24). Top scorer for Macc in 82/83 season with 10 goals, he was selected for the NPL Representative XI. Moved on to Irlam Town and in September 1984 made his debut for Hyde United (84/85:20+3,4). Left Ewen Fields midway through the 84/85 campaign and returned to Irlam via Curzon Ashton.

Featured in the NW Counties League Second Division in 87/88 with Cheadle Town (5 league goals) then Flixton (11 league goals). A decorator by trade, he later managed Flixton reserves (91/92) before becoming their first team Manager the following season. Became manager of Trafford reserves at the start of the 95/96 season and also served on Trafford’s Management Committee.
