Biography

Hit the headlines when he scored all 6 goals for Macclesfield Town as a 16 year-old in a 6-0 win over Droylsden in the Floodlight League. Having joined Macclesfield (1973-74:38+4,13) from school, he made his first team debut in August 1973, becoming a regular the following season.

Went to play in Melbourne, Australia and on his return to the country, Nantwich boss Colin Hutchinson paid Macclesfield a transfer fee of £100 to secure his signature in September 1975. His brother, Rob, also played for Macclesfield, the brothers coming face-to-face in the 1976 Cheshire Senior Cup semi-final. Andy came out on top and went on to net a vital goal in the 1976 Final victory over Runcorn. Re-joined Macclesfield (77/78:24,7) before returning to Australia where he played for Western Suburbs (April to August 1978), APAI Leichhardt (March to April 1979) and Sydney Olympic (April to September 1979).

After seven years, he came back to the UK and had a spell at Winsford United (84/85). Founder of the highly successful Bank Fashion Retail stores, he became Vice-Chairman of Macclesfield Town in January 2008, stepping down from the role in May 2012.
