Match Report

Fleetwood gained ample revenge for their 3-0 opening day defeat at Nantwich by cruising through this FA Vase tie by a similar scoreline.
The result was never in doubt after the visitors broke the deadlock midway through the first half. Free-scoring Lee Catlow netted after John Riches had broken free down the right.
Just before the interval, Fleetwood were two goals to the good. Dangerman Riches was lurking at the back stick from a corner and he pulled the ball back to Jason Weller who fed Catlow for his second.
Fleetwood were more physical and inventive than the Dabbers and it was no surprise when they extended their lead eight minutes into the second period. Stuart Heeps almost made amends for an unforced error by Martin Packham but the ball rebounded to Kevin Barnes who secured the visitors place in the Second Round.
The visitors had chances to add to their tally but were denied by a goalline clearance and the impressive Heeps. For their part, a strangely lethargic Nantwich had their best efforts from two long range free-kicks from player-boss Nigel Gleghorn.
