Biography

Moved into management with Fisons, winning the Crewe & District League, after his playing career at Kidsgrove Athletic was cut short by a cruciate ligament injury. Had previously had appeared for English Electric. Managed Kidsgrove reserves to the Second Division title of the Mid-Cheshire League before taking the reins at Alsager Town. Then steered Newcastle Town to the Mid-Cheshire League title in 1985/86.

After that managed Hanley Town (1986-87) in the same league, clinching the Mid-Cheshire League Cup before being named Nantwich’s joint-manager with Glyn Morris for the 88/89 campaign and being named NWCL Division 2 Manager of the Month for October 1988. Guided the Dabbers to promotion from the NWCL Second Division that season and sold star player Ronnie Jepson to Port Vale for £2000. Gained, with Morris, the NWCL Manager of the Month Award for November 1989.

Became sole Manager in the summer of 1991 but resigned in November 1992 with the Dabbers floundering in 20th position. Then managed Lancaster City before taking up the reins at Kidsgrove Athletic (1993-95) in the summer of 1993. Named NWCL Manager of the Month for February 1994 and again in December 1994. Linked up with Phil Wilson as Assistant Manager at Leek Town in September 1996 and was in charge when they celebrated promotion to the Conference. Relieved of his duties towards the end of their first season in non-league’s top tier, he followed Wilson as assistant at Stalybridge Celtic and Southport.

Returned to the hot seat at Clough Hall but left his post as Kidsgrove Manager in May 2012, later becoming Assistant Manager at Leek Town (13/14). Returned yet again as Kidsgrove Manager in October 2014. In December 2016 he was appointed joint-manager of Loughborough Dynamo with Andy Kinsey, subsequently returning to Leek Town (22/23) as Assistant Manager.
