Biography

Born c.1957. Having started his football career as an apprentice at Preston North End and Coventry City, Dave progressed through the Macclesfield Town reserves where he was the leading scorer in 73/74 and made one appearance in the England Youth side. Made his debut in January 1974 and enjoyed a couple of seasons at Macclesfield (1973-74:50+5,2) before he joined Nantwich in June 1975, still a teenager, and as a left half helped the Dabbers to Cheshire Senior Cup glory in 1976.

Signed for Witton Albion (76/77:13+7,2) as a left winger in the 1976 close season. Spent the summer of 1977 in Australia with Wilhelmina and on his return to the UK made one more appearance for Witton. Then re-joined Macclesfield (1977-78:51+1,0) moving into the back four and taking his total appearances for the Silkmen over the century mark. A resident of Wilmslow, he worked for a printing firm in Manchester.
