Biography
Matt was with Newcastle Town as a 17 year-old, but unfortunately broke his leg before breaking into the first team. The centre half established himself at Meir KA and Eccleshall before returning to the Lyme Valley Stadium, making 17 appearances for ‘Castle.
Before joining Nantwich in December 2004. Made his debut in the 1-0 home win over Squires Gate, 11/12/2004. Left for Leek CSOB in the 2005 close season, returning to Newcastle in the 2007 close season. Switched to Kidsgrove Athletic at the start of the following campaign, moving on to Stone Dominoes in October 2008. Joined Leek Town but was back at Stone on dual registration in January 2011.
Signed for Market Drayton Town before returning to Harrison Park in March 2012. Started the 12/13 season back at Leek CSOB before leaving for Norton United (12/13: 3+0,0) in September 2012 but returned again to Leek CSOB (12/13: 5+0,2 lge & 0 cup) in December 2012. Signed for Congleton Town (13/14:2,0) in November 2013 but left later in the month to join Eccleshall where he sustained a double broken leg, forcing him to retire from the game in December 2013.
