Biography
Steve featured for Port Vale Reserves (70/71) in the Cheshire County League before moving from Northwich Victoria (73/74:49,3) to Leek Town in the summer of 1974. Joined the Dabbers in February 1975 from Leek along with Alan Clarke and David Hughes in a deal that saw Keith Mottershead move the other way. Made his debut in the 3-2 home win over Droylsden, 01/03/1975.
Son of former Vale winger Colin Askey and older brother of Bob and Mark.
