Biography

Dick started out at Usworth Juniors before signing for Newcastle United as a teenager in July 1957. Unable to make the first team at St.James’ Park, he joined South Shields but made his breakthrough in the League after transferring to Grimsby Town (1962-64:33,13lge) in March 1962.
The centre forward switched to Stockport County (65/66:29,5) in May 1965. Dropped back into non-league with Ellesmere Port Town and Bangor City. After joining Macclesfield Town (1967-70:153+3,88) in the 1967 close season, he helped the Silkmen to the Cheshire County League championship in 1968 and top scored with 29 goals in successive campaigns as Macc won the Northern Premier League title in 1969 and 1970. Moved on to Altrincham (71/72:35+4,23) in the summer of 1971.
The experienced marksmen joined the Dabbers in March 1972, scoring on his debut in the 4-2 home defeat to Rhyl, 18/03/1972.
Employed as a trimmer at Hawker-Sidderley in Woodford, he sadly died from Motor-Neurone Disease.
