Biography

Reliable custodian who was initially on the books of Burnley. Served Stalybridge Celtic (1967-68:1lge) as a teenager and then Milton, leaving the Manchester League outfit for Nantwich in October 1970 and making his debut in the 2-2 home draw with Witton Albion, 17/10/1970.

Stepped up to Northern Premier League football with Mossley (1971-73:129) late in the 71/72 campaign. Signed for Stalybridge Celtic (74/75) in the 1974 close season before joining Rossendale United early in the 1975/76 season and was instrumental in the Stags reaching the FA Cup First Round that season.

Left Dark Lane for Horwich RMI (1978-79), helping the Railwaymen to the Cheshire County League title in 1979. Moved on to Ashton United (81/82:28), leaving to return to Rossendale United early in the 82/83 campaign. Spent time between the sticks at Rochdale Reserves, Horwich RMI (84/84) again and Radcliffe Borough (84/85) before serving Bacup Borough. Also an accomplished cricketer in the Central Lancashire League.
