Biography

‘Bodie’, as he was nicknamed, appeared for Lostock Gralam and ICI Alkali (1957-58), also becoming an amateur with Northwich Victoria (58/59:1,0) in the summer of 1958. In the 1959 close season he signed for Witton Albion (59/60:43,10) and also on amateur forms for Crewe Alexandra.
Moved on to Welsh side Borough United in the 1960 close season. Returned to Northwich (1960-62:37,7), also featuring for Lostock Gralam (61/62) before returning to Borough United (65/66). Then joined Nantwich, making his debut as a left back in the 2-1 win at Northern Nomads, 04/04/1966.
First recipient of the Dabbers’ new Player of the Year Award in 67/68. After leaving London Road, he featured again for Lostock Gralam and then Middlewich Athletic, helping ‘The Witches’ to back-to-back Mid-Cheshire League titles in 71/72 and 72/73 and earning their ‘Clubman of the Year’ accolade for 72/73.
