Biography

Featured for Nantwich when the first team was playing in the Crewe & District Amateur League in 1938/39. Joined the East Lancashire Regiment at the outbreak of the Second World War, taking part in the invasion of Madagascar.

After the War, he resumed work as a tailor’s cutter at Haighton’s and returned to playing for Nantwich. Brother of Tommy, he supported the Dabbers for the rest of his life, watching the club win the FA Vase at Birmingham at the age of 90.
