Biography

Wing half who featured for the Dabbers youth team in the record-breaking 23-0 defeat to Manchester United in November 1952. The diminutive hard-tackling player figured for Nantwich reserves in the Crewe League before making his senior bow in the 5-1 defeat at Linotype, 27/09/1952.

Nicknamed ‘Nutty’, he went on trial to Stoke City in December 1952 and his service at London Road was broken in December 1954 when he signed for Crewe Alexandra ‘A’ (54/55). Also renowned as a young boxer, he was a fitter in Crewe works and tragically lost his life as a passenger in a road traffic accident near Lostock Gralam at the tender age of 28.
