Biography
Kept goal for Bunbury (56/57) and was an amateur on the books of Blackburn Rovers, helping out the Dabbers in September 1957 and going on trial at Preston North End in October 1957.
Then was in goal for Knutsford (58/59) before joining Crewe Alexandra (1958-59) in April 1959, appearing for the reserves and ‘A’ team before being released in May 1960. Signed for Welsh League outfit Bethesda (1960-61) where his performances secured a trial at Nottingham Forest, playing three reserve matches in April 1961. Later kept goal for Holyhead (1963-65), where he recovered after breaking a leg playing against Borough United in February 1964.
Brother of Stoke City’s 1972 League Cup winning captain Peter, he was a cricketer with Crewe Vagrants and a keen fisherman, tragically collapsing and dying whilst fishing in the Shropshire Union Canal at the age of 57.
