Biography

Dave served the Dabbers as a player and manager for over 40 years. A former Crewe schoolboy player, he signed non-contract forms with Crewe Alexandra in April 1976. Gained Cheshire County League experience with Middlewich Athletic in January 1977 – making 8 appearances. Originally signed for Nantwich in the summer of 1978 on his release from the Alex. Played a couple of games for Whitchurch Alport in May 1980 after the end of Nantwich’s season and moved on to Congleton Town (80/81:8,1) in October 1980.

Returned to Whitchurch (1980-81) in the spring of 1981, re-joining the Dabbers from there in the 1982 close season. Left to join Leek Town in February 1983, later switching to Bootle (82/83) and then Winsford United at the start of the 1983/84 campaign. By November 1983 he was back at Jackson Avenue and was named as player-joint manager with Ernie Blunstone in April 1984. Became sole Player-Manager in the 1985 close season but resigned at the end of November 1985, shortly afterwards returning to Winsford as a player.

Re-joined the Nantwich playing staff in October 1987 and was again appointed Manager in the summer of 2000. Left in August 2001 to become Assistant Manager to Jimmy Quinn at Northwich Victoria and then Shrewsbury Town. Was again appointed Manager of the Dabbers in May 2017. Father of Paul and Sean.
