Biography

Left half who was on the books of Stoke City and Doncaster Rovers before joining Bangor City in the summer of 1964. Switched to Witton Albion (64/65:19,0) in December 196 before signing for Stafford Rangers (1965-72:398,5) in the 1965 close season. He was an ever-present in the successful 1972 squad that won both the Northern Premier League and FA Trophy, playing an incredible 72 games that season.
Former boss Colin Hutchinson brought him to Nantwich from Marston Road in the summer of 1973 and he made his debut in the 2-0 defeat at Hyde United in August 1973. George made his final appearance before hanging up his boots in the Dabbers’ 2-1 win at Droylsden in April 1975. He was never a player who scored goals and didn’t find the back of the net in nearly 100 appearances for Nantwich.
Spent his whole working life at Bowlers Foundry in the Potteries. Passed away at the age of 79.
