Biography
Jim played for youth side Rising Brook and then signed for Stafford Rangers who loaned him to Sandbach Ramblers in December 1971. Joined Nantwich in the summer of 1972, making his debut in the 1-0 home defeat to Hyde United, 12/08/1972. Re-joined Sandbach (72/73) before returning to Stafford (77/78:39lge) becoming a first team regular and getting capped by England at semi-professional level.
A fee of £20,000 took him from Marston Road to Blackburn Rovers (1979-80:72) in June 1979. Former Blackburn boss Howard Kendall took him to Everton (1981-83:59) in August 1981 where he made an impact in the First Division for the Toffees and also going on loan to Preston North End (82/83:6) in October 1982. Signed for Port Vale (85-87:67) in August 1985, his career turned full circle when he returned to the non-league game with Kidderminster Harriers, saving a penalty in the 1987 FA Trophy Final replay as Harriers defeated Burton Albion. Finished his career with Workington and Rocester.
