Biography
On the books of Manchester City as a schoolboy, he turned professional with Cambridge United in 1968. Unsettled in East Anglia, he joined Nantwich in March 1969 having scored 11 times for the Southern League side. Debuted for the Dabbers in the 2-2 home draw with Ellesmere Port Town, 08/03/1969.
A right half or inside forward, he became a familiar figure in the North West non-league circuit. Appeared for Witton Albion (1969-70:48+3,1), Altrincham and Ashton United (72/73:20,0). Assistant Manager of Ashton Town (89/90), he then managed Atherton Collieries (93/94) before returning as Joint-Manager of Ashton Town in November 1994, taking on a similar role at Cheadle Town the following month. Held the reins at Warrington Town from the 1996 close season to Christmas 1996, being appointed Joint-Manager of Salford City in the summer of 1997. Leaving in January 1998, he returned to the hot seat at Atherton Collieries (1998-99) picking up the NWCL Manager of the Month Award for January 2000 and later crossing town to Atherton LR (2001-02) departing early in the autumn of 2002.
Had another stint managing Atherton Collieries (2003-04) and was appointed Manager of Stockport County in August 2013. In April 2015, he moved upstairs to become Director of Football and then Director of Youth Development, combining this role from May 2018 with a managerial position at NWCL side Stockport Town.
