Biography
Bill signed for Leicester City from local club Port Glasgow in August 1955. Made his League debut at home to Everton, 23/08/1958 but made just two more League appearances for the Foxes before moving to Bury (1959-63:174,67lge) in May 1959. A fee of £8500 took him to Oxford United (1963-66:66+1,28lge) in November 1963. The centre forward signed for Rochdale (7+1,1lge) in November 1966 and then dropped into the Cheshire County League with Macclesfield Town (67/68:33+1,14) and Stalybridge Celtic (68/69:8,2lge).
Signed for Nantwich in 1968, making his debut in the 3-0 defeat at Frickley Colliery, 12/10/1968. Left to join Horwich RMI in the 1969 close season, scoring 32 goals netting 30 goals in 1969/70. Scored 2 more Cheshire County League goals for the Railwaymen before returning to Nantwich as Player-Manager in October 1970. Hung up his boots in the summer of 1971, continuing as Manager until parting company with the club in December 1972. Outside football he was a Builder’s Representative.
