Biography

Eddie served Crewe LMS (47/48) and signed amateur forms for West Bromwich Albion in September 1947. Also played for Crewe Cadets before joining Crewe Alexandra (1949-53:28,0lge) in August 1948 making his League debut at home to Tranmere Rovers, 20/08/1949. Briefly appeared for Congleton Town (54/55:2,0) before enjoying a season with Witton Albion (55/56:35,1).

Signed for Nantwich in August 1956 but only stayed a few months before returning to Congleton (1956-59:79,6) in October 1956. Could also play at half-back. Later managed Whitchurch Alport with great success, guiding them to the Mid-Cheshire League and Shropshire Amateur Cup double in 69/70 before taking up the managerial reins at Winsford United (70/71). A decent cricketer, his son John became an England test batter.
