Biography

As a teenager kept goal for Crewe League sides Wheelock Albion (47/48) and LMR Sports (48/49) before joining Crewe Alexandra ‘A’ (49/50).

Signed for Nantwich in the summer of 1950 but broke his leg in a reserve match at Willaston. At the age of 20, he was promoted into the Nantwich first team, but shipped seven goals on debut at Mirrless, 01/09/1951. Took over from Harold Jones as the Dabbers regular custodian before moving on to Sandbach Ramblers (1952-53).

A man of the cloth, he later became a priest in Maidstone, Kent.
