Biography
Lol served ICI Alkali as an 18 year-old and was being watched by Wolverhampton Wanderers when he suffered a freak accident when a finger got caught on a net hook on a crossbar. The amputation of the finger put paid to a pro career but he was able to keep goal for a number of clubs in Mid-Cheshire.
He joined Nantwich from fellow Mid-Cheshire League side Moulton YC (1961-63) early in the 1964/65 campaign. Departed for Norley United in early 1965, later keeping goal for Winnington Park (66/67), Lostock Gralam and Winsford United (1969-70) in the Cheshire County League before helping Middlewich Athletic to the Mid-Cheshire League title in 74/75. Became Player-Manager of Moulton (75/76) but still called upon to assist Middlewich Athletic (75/76) on occasion during their inaugural season in the Cheshire County League. Appointed Manager of the Witches in the summer of 1981.
