Biography
19 year-old Walkden lad who joined Nantwich from Darwen in September 1962, making his debut in the 1-1 draw at Warrington Town, 22/09/1962. The free scoring inside forward returned to Darwen the following season. Left for New Zealand in October 1964, becoming player-coach of New Brighton.
A colourful character, he coached extensively, serving Christchurch United (three times), Brighton, Shamrock, Western, and Woolston, as well as coaching for many years for the Canterbury and New Zealand Associations and the national youth team. Made Christchurch United the country's most successful team but sadly died of cancer at the age of 53.
