Biography

Strong centre-forward who signed for Leek Town in 1980 having previously played in Canada. Bob joined Macclesfield Town (1984-86:122+9,33) from Milton United, making his Macc debut in August 1984. Voted the club’s Player of the Year for 84/85, he left the Moss Rose having represented the FA XI. Featured for Bromsgrove Rovers and Worcester City before briefly returning to Macclesfield (89/90:7+7,1) at the end of the 89/90 season.

Signed for the Dabbers in the summer of 1990, being named captain for the 90/91 campaign, stepping up to become assistant manager for the following season. Later became Manager at Eccleshall (97/98), initially as player-manager, securing elevation to the NW Counties League and picked up the NWCL Division 2 Manager of the Month Award for October 2003. Stepped down at the end of the 04/05 campaign after eight years in charge.

Appointed Manager of Stone Old Alleynians in the summer of 2012. Stood down after two years and was appointed Manager at Newcastle Town ahead of the 17/18 campaign. Parted company in February 2018 and returned to Stone Old Alleynians as Chairman, helping them secure elevation to the NW Counties League for the 18/19 campaign. Brother of Mark and Steve.
