A closely fought contest which was decided by an early goal by Nantwich. Vics started slowly and fell behind after 14 minutes as Harry Bower met a corner on the half volley to fire into the back of the net. Earlier, Nantwich had already hit the bar with a well struck Cooper free-kick. Vics slowly worked their way back into the match and Abreu forced the Dabbers’ keeper Garrett into a fine save after a corner had fallen kindly for him after 25 minutes. Abreu then struck a low shot which again made Garrett work before Will Lloyd fired narrowly wide. Nantwich then struck the woodwork again before Abreu again fizzed a shot in which Garrett again saved well. A closely fought first half with all to play for in the second.

HALF-TIME : Northwich Vics 0 Nantwich Town 1

Vics had the majority of the play in the second half , playing some good football but lacking the killer punch. Tanswell had a couple of efforts early on, the first one blocked and the second well saved. Lloyd then did well to win the ball near the byline, but his low ball across goal just evaded the onrushing Vics’ players. Ryan Atkinson was the set through on goal by a fine through ball in the 66th minute, but his shot was again well saved. It was all Vics now, with Deering, Tanswell and Deering all having efforts saved by the keeper, before Vics ran out of time and bowed out of the Cheshire Senior Cup.
