Nantwich Town eased to a 3-0 victory at home to Lancaster City, securing their third consecutive clean sheet.

A second-half double by Sean Cooke added to Harry Clayton’s first-half strike for a comfortable day at the office for the Dabbers.

Joe Mwasile’s excellent run and ball through to Clayton saw the striker cooly slot home to take the lead on 41 minutes.

Nantwich never looked under threat after the break, and on 70 minutes they all but sealed the points with a fine second.

Cotterell and Hughes combined well out wide, before Cotterell’s excellent cross was powered home by Cooke’s unstoppable strike.

Two minutes later, Cooke added the icing to the cake with fine curling free kick from just outside the box after Mwasile had been brought down.

Nantwich had several more opportunities on the break which they were unable to convert, but sealed an important three points which pulls them well away from the relegation zone.

It was also a third consecutive clean sheet for Blackpool loanee keeper Myles Boney, who is at Weaver Stadium on a one month loan deal. Boney was brought in after recent injuries to first team goalkeepers Fabian Spiess and Krystian Burzynski. And the 19-year old stopper is proving an astute deal with excellent performances behind a solid back line.

The Dabbers are now 16th in Evo-Stik Premier League, and with several games in game on most clubs above them apart from Stourbridge, a late charge for the play-offs is not out of the question.
