Match Report

Marco Adaggio’s second-half penalty was enough to earn the Dabbers three points at Rushall Olympic. Adaggio converted after substitute Michael Lennon was brought down in the area by Lucan Spittle just after the hour mark.
It was often backs against the wall stuff for the Dabbers and Ahmed Obeng nearly put the hosts ahead with a flashing half volley on ten minutes but Jonathan Brain managed to push the ball wide.
Nantwich rarely threatened in the first half, the closest they came was through Fraser McLachlan, the midfielder hit a sweet volley just wide from 20 yards.
The Dabbers struggled to control much of the possession and the Pics dominance should have provided them with the lead on the stroke of half time as Matt Lewis was denied by Brain after some good build up from the hosts.
Brain was again to the rescue only minutes after the restart, Luke Bottomer found himself with a glorious one on one opportunity but Brain reacted quickly to block his shot.
Nantwich got their goal on 64 minutes, Lennon cut inside Spittle and the centre half’s trailing leg bundled over the Dabbers frontman, Adaggio coolly blasted the penalty down the centre leaving Gemmell with no chance.
The Dabbers were then under the cosh for the final 25 minutes as Rushall threw bodies forward, the most worrying moment was when Matt Lowe conceded a free kick on the edge of the area and despite the initial kick being blocked Louis Keenan’s follow up had to be well saved by Brain.
Niall Maguire could have made it two in the closing stages but he stabbed Lowe’s cross wide.
